As summer turns into fall, get out on the trail to experience the picturesque landscape change into gold, orange, and red as you enjoy a cozy stay in one of the most magnificent Catskills resorts, Emerson Resort & Spa!

Visit the Kaaterskill Falls while staying in the best Catskills resorts!

Kaaterskill Falls is the tallest two-stage waterfall in New York. The steep 620 stone stairs to access the fall will challenge even the most experienced hiker. Be careful when climbing this trail as the steps are very slippery when wet. These falls are some of America’s oldest tourist attractions. The trail levels off to a gentle climb following the creek after a strenuous 250 feet hike. The trail was extended from the middle pool to the Escarpment trail creating a key linkage between the top and the bottom of the falls. Which allows hikers to avoid a potentially dangerous bushwhack between the two locations. Alongside its beauty, Kaaterskill Falls can be extremely dangerous. When hiking this popular waterfall, it’s always important to take precautions. The bedrock is very exposed and eroded causing hazardous conditions, so don’t try to hike beyond the end of the designated trail. And do not attempt hiking the waterfall itself!

Visit the Giant Ledge while staying in the best Catskills resorts!

Giant Ledge is a moderate hike with incredible views. Although sections are steep, and the footing can be rough, you’ll love this short hike to a stunning view! In under two miles, after climbing over some rocks, you’ll get to the Giant Ledge where you’ll enjoy amazing vistas. The west side of the ridge has suffered years of erosion. But the east side provides panoramic views of the Catskills’ beauty, as well as the Esopus Valley and forest canopy! You’ll notice that Giant Ledge houses a series of ledges. The sheer cliff drops 180-feet below into the forest floor. You can continue along the Panther Mountain ridge for a longer hike, before you return to Emerson Resort & Spa, one of the coziest Catskills resorts around!

Of all the Catskills resorts, Emerson Resort & Spa is the ideal spot for your last summer family trip, as well as for an early fall foliage trip!
